When schools choose a destination for an Erasmus+ mobility, they look for a place where students can learn, feel safe and enjoy the experience. Valencia ticks all those boxes. Here are six reasons why Spain’s third-largest city is such a good choice.

1. A city at a human scale

Valencia is large enough to offer plenty of internship opportunities, but compact enough to feel manageable. Metro, tram, bus and a wide network of cycle lanes make it easy for students to travel to their placement every day.

2. A varied local economy

From hotels and restaurants to shops, logistics companies and IT businesses: Valencia’s economy offers placements for many vocational fields. That makes it easier to find a host company that really matches each student’s study programme.

3. A Mediterranean climate

With mild winters and many sunny days throughout the year, Valencia is a pleasant destination in almost every season. Students spend more time outdoors, which helps them settle in and connect with others.

4. Culture on every corner

The historic old town with the Torres de Serranos and the cathedral, the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, the Central Market and the Turia gardens, a long green park in the old riverbed: there is always something to discover after work. In March, the famous Fallas festival, recognised by UNESCO, fills the streets.

5. Beach and nature nearby

The city beaches, such as Malvarrosa, are easy to reach by tram or by bike. Just south of the city lies the Albufera natural park, with its lagoon, rice fields and sunsets, and the home of paella.

6. A great place to learn Spanish

Spanish is spoken everywhere, alongside Valencian, so students practise the language every day, at work and in daily life. Combined with Spanish lessons, for example at Koyot Academy, their language skills grow quickly.
